The Case of the Missing Winners of the 61 Millions California Super Lotto Revealed
ANAHEIM – Three men have stepped up to claim a $61 million Super Lotto Plus ticket purchased in Anaheim last week.
The lucky trio walked into the Santa Ana office of the California Lottery at around 3 p.m. Monday to claim the jackpot, lottery spokesperson Kelly Kell said.
The winners are:
Alfredo Hernandez,
Benson Morinke,
Jesus Marquez,
They have decided on the cash option of $38.1 million.
That works out to $12.7 million per winner. The state controller will release the funds in four to six weeks, Kell said.
There is no state tax on lottery winnings, but each winner will be on the hook for 25 percent in federal taxes – or 30 percent if he is not a U.S. resident.
ANAHEIM – The holder of a $61 million Super Lotto Plus ticket sold at a 7-Eleven in Anaheim isn't rushing to claim his or her winnings.
As of 9 a.m. Monday, the lucky ticket-holder had yet to step forward, California Lottery spokesperson Kelly Kell said.
Balwinder Singh is all smiles Sunday after learning that he sold a Super Lotto Plus ticket worth $61 million at his 7-Eleven store, 1685 W. Katella in Anaheim.

"We'll see," Kell said.
Winners have 180 days to claim their prize – in this case, a lump sum to be paid over 26 years, or a cash option for $38.1 million.
The ticket containing the winning numbers – 1, 6, 13, 45, 47 and mega-number 16 – was sold at the 7-Eleven at 1685 W. Katella Ave.
Owners of the store – open only 18 months -- were informed of the win Saturday night. The corporate office of 7-Eleven will get half of 1 percent of the winnings, or about $350,000.
Ticket sales for Saturday's Super Lotto Plus draw totaled $5,942,700. Odds of matching all five Super Lotto Plus numbers and the mega number are 1 in 41,416,353.
There were also seven Super Lotto Plus second-tier winning tickets sold along with the winning Anaheim ticket. These tickets matched 5 numbers correctly but failed to match the mega number. Each ticket is worth $12,734.
Those tickets were sold in Laguna Beach, Poway, Chula Vista, Rowland Heights, Carmichael, Canyon Country and Rosamond. The Laguna Beach ticket was sold at Coast Liquor, 1391 South Coast Highway.
The last Super Lotto Plus jackpot won in Anaheim was $87 million in July 1999 to Salvador Gonzalez, who bought the ticket at Kelly's Mini Mart.
The largest Super Lotto Plus jackpot won was $193 million sold in February 2002. Three tickets won and split the jackpot (for $64 million each) and were sold in Orange, Half Moon Bay and Montebello.
